NEW PAUL McCARTNEY SINGLE HEADED TO RADIO ON FRIDAY NEW PAUL McCARTNEY SINGLE HEADED TO RADIO ON FRIDAY
By: Howie Edelson
The first single from Paul McCartney's upcoming album Memory Almost Full will be released to radio on Friday (April 20th). The news of the single, called "Ever Present Past," was posted on the chat board for studio technician Steve Hoffman's website. It was on Hoffman's site that the tracklisting and description of the upcoming album was first leaked.
The track was described on the website stevehoffman.tv as being, "Musically quirky -- McCartney II (album) fans will love this one -- hooky and clever with great lyrics, addictive robotic rhythm, nifty distorted guitar riffs and terrific double-tracked vocals. Fully realized top-drawer 'Macca Pop'in every respect, (with the) opening line: 'I've got too much on my plate -- I've got no time to be a decent lover.'A+"
There's been no official release date set for the single of "Ever Present Past," but a video reportedly was shot for the album's lead-off track, "Dancing Tonight," starring Natalie Portman and The Office star Mackenzie Crook. Memory Almost Full will be released on June 5th.
Steve Hoffman is a well respected album mastering engineer, who is responsible for conforming digital sound and analog tape into either a vinyl LP or compact disc.
Ringo Starr's longtime producer Mark Hudson first worked with McCartney in 1997. He says that McCartney has more than earned the right to be as experimental as he wants to be: "There's a weird thing about getting older and being relevant. And sometimes we try to be, 'Oh, we better sound like Coldplay or Radiohead, 'cause that's what's happening now.'And I think that when it come to the Beatles, they have nothing else to prove other than being what they wanna be. And if they wanna stretch out and try something new, they could do a polka album -- 'cause they paid their dues and done their stuff."
PAUL McCartney will pay coded tribute to his late wife Linda in the title for his new album.
The music legend, 64, has named his new record Memory Almost Full - which is a perfect anagram of For My Soulmate LLM.
Her name after she married in 1969 was Linda Louise McCartney. She died of breast cancer aged 56 in 1998.
A friend of one of his band members said: "It is a title Paul has had on his mind for a long time - even before Linda died. He'd never have used it if things were going well with Heather.
"But this record is very much the break-up album. It's an homage to the woman who remains the true love of his life - and his soulmate."
Paul's been recording material over the past two years - inspired by the breakdown of his relationship with Heather Mills.
To: Corvin Я так и подозревал. Но решил - ладно, пусть до кучи будет... Знаешь, у меня братец младший в детстве развлекался тем, что придумывал альбомы своей воображаемой рок-группы. Вот у него примерно такие же названия и комментарии к ним были :)

New Paul McCartney album tracklisting leaked What appears to be the tracklisting to Paul McCartney's new album, Memory Almost Full, has appeared on the website starbucksgossip.typepad.com. The unconfirmed information features the titles to the album's 12 tracks and a thumbnail description of the songs. The album is McCartney's first for the Starbucks/Concord Music Group's offshoot label Hear Music.
Interestingly, both McCartney's late wife Linda McCartney and Beatles bandmate John Lennon feature in the song titles. The reported opening track, titled "To Be Said," is from a 2001 poem McCartney published about Linda in his poetry book Blackbird Singing. "Pizza And Fairy Tales" was what Lennon accused McCartney of being during a mid-'70s phone argument. According to McCartney, Lennon once spat out at him that, "You're only pizza and fairytales." Since Lennon's death, McCartney has gone on record numerous times saying that it would make a great album title.
The Starbucks Gossip post reads in part:
"To Be Said" - Based on the poem. A short string quartet piece. Delicate.
"Bring The Dawn" - Huge production number, mellotrons to brass, booming drums.
"Memory Almost Full" - Nice pop song (see "Driving Rain"), likely (the)first single. Some electronica.
"Robber Of Soul" - Funky jazz/brass number, unlike anything in (McCartney's) catalog so far.
"Cracks In The Earth" - Electric piano ballad, sounds like a Chaos And Creation In The Backyard track.
"Buy The Farm" - Solid rocker, Steve Miller-ish.
"It Happens Every Time" - Tight rocker, best song here.
"Silent Water" - Piano/organ/electronica song -- nice lyrics.
"God Damn Rock 'n Roll" - Sounds like a Back To The Egg outtake- almost punk.
"Pizza And Fairytales" - Most Beatle-esque. Reminds (me) of (McCartney's unreleased 1987 song) "Return To Pepperland."
"Pictures In Song Suite" - Almost 15 minutes. A true song suite, divided into four movements. Most people won't get how good this is.
The McCartney fansite macca-central.com reported that the domain memoryalmostfull.com was purchased by Concord Music Group on March 13th, and it's a safe bet that that will be the home page for the upcoming album. McCartney's Memory Almost Full will be released on June 5th
After being out of print for more than a decade, the two studio albums from all-star band the Traveling Wilburys will return to the marketplace in a variety of formats June 12 via Wilbury Records/Rhino, Billboard.com has learned.
"Traveling Wilburys Volume 1" and "Traveling Wilburys Volume 3" will be available together in one package with bonus tracks and a DVD of rare footage, as a deluxe linen-bound edition, a vinyl set and a digital bundle. The DVD boasts a 24-minute documentary and five music videos.
The Wilburys formed in 1988 after Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison assembled at a California studio to record a B-side for the Harrison single "This Is Love."
The resulting song, "Handle With Care," was instead released under the Wilburys name, with the artists posing as a band of brothers. It went on to reach No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the "Volume 1" album hit No. 3 on The Billboard 200. The reissued version of the album includes the previously unreleased tracks "Maxine" and "Like a Ship."
Orbison died in late 1988 before a second album could be completed; it was eventually released as "Volume 3" in 1990. The set is expanded here with the B-side "Runaway" and "Nobody's Child," which was released on a benefit album for Romanian orphans.
Scaffold - Live At The Queen Elizabeth Hall 1968 (ACMEM63CD) Due In: 30/01/2006 People may laugh disparagingly now, but at the time, in 1968, they laughed in appreciation: and with good reason. The Scaffold were one of the most interesting things in British pop- the combination of Mike McGear (Paul McCartney's brother) Scouse beat poet Roger McGough, and enterpreneur John Gorman (the one that looked like a cross between a bank manager and a pervert) was one of the most unusual ones that had hitherto existed, and their stage show, fusing satirical sketches with music hall bawdiness and novelty pop with surrealism, was one of the best one could see back then. It's all been taken out of context now, of course: songs like 'Thank U Very Much' which appears here, as well as their other hits like 'Lily The Pink' make sense only when appreciated as part of the absurdist revue that the band purveyed. Now we can appreciate it on this fine CD, where their mixture of poetry, pop and pisstaking (particularly adept on 'Old Folks' and 'Son Of Lent') flows as seamlessly as the Mersey itself. A good introduction to an often misunderstood band.
