В прошлом году Дэни Лэйн выступал в Нью Йорке, в рамках летних бесплатных \для публики концертов\. И продолжает выступать- в основном в т.к.*солянках* \сборных кoнцертах\. В 1976 году Дэни совместно с Линдой и Полом выпустил альбом *Holly Days*. 10 каверов посвященных Buddy Holly.
Хочу также заметить- Дэни был верен Полу, несмотря на метания последнего как и в музыке так и жизни\ вплоть до ареста Пола в Японии за наркотики. После чего Дэни заявил, что ему надоело смотреть на это и ушёл из Wings>>

И тем не менее Пол Маккартни снискал себе титл -"жучара" его природная скупость не идёт ему в плюс... Случай с Денни Лэйном не единственый, за ним не только это водится... Я это всё к вопросу о "не справедливости" разграничения заслуг Леннона и Маккартни. Я ведь и совсем не против того, что бы Пол ушёл в легенды, но вот его земная склочность и мелочность,ну и жадность , от части, ему мешает...

Wings member remembers experiences with Sir Paul McCartney

What if The Beatles and Wings, Paul McCartney's post-Beatles band, had played together?

Wings co-founder Denny Laine said he is eager to find out when he takes the stage on July 20 with Beatles tribute band American English.

"They are such good musicians," Laine said. "It is a very eerie kind of atmosphere when they come out doing all [of The Beatles] original hits."

Laine, along with three other original Wings members — horn players Howie Casey, Thaddeus Richard and Steve Howard — will perform with American English at the Arcada Theatre, 100 E. Main St., St. Charles.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets range from $25 to $50, available online at www.tickets.com or by calling (800) 882-4275.

Laine knows how The Beatles sounded on stage. As a member of The Moody Blues (he sang their 1967 hit, "Go Now"), Laine toured with The Beatles.

That is where he met McCartney.

The two instantly clicked, and formed the band Wings. Laine wrote many songs with McCartney, including "Mull of Kintyre," McCartney's first

No. 1 song since he was a Beatle.

"I had always liked his writing," Laine said. "He must have picked up on that in some way or another. I think he just wanted somebody who had similar ideas and someone who he knew a little bit. It was hard for him to start again after The Beatles."

But Laine said he did not see himself replacing John Lennon, McCartney's writing partner in The Beatles.

"They spent a lot of time together in a band, and they built their relationship to the point that they did," Laine said. "I don't think he was thinking of getting a writing partner (after The Beatles), it just kind of worked out that way."

Depsite their close relationship, Laine said Wings was basically McCartney's band.

"It was Paul's band, and I was his slightly younger brother, in some ways," Laine said. "The Beatles were much more of a collaboration."

Wings proved to be a bigger hit with American audiences than in Laine's and McCartney's native England.

"I think there were more No. 1 hits in America. The American audience was much more willing to accept us than the British one. We had to work for it more in England," Laine said.

His favorite Wings' album is "Band On The Run," which featured just Laine, McCartney, and McCartney's wife, Linda.

"The nucleus of the group was me and Paul musically and Linda with some harmonies," Laine said. "It just had a good feel because the two of us had worked so much as a writing team. We could just put things together very quickly without all the problems you have trying to get a band to rehearse. Sometimes it's easier when there's less people."

Laine is keeping busy these days. Along with working on a solo album, he also is writing his autobiography.

"I'm going through the beginning of it all, through childhood, The Moody Blues, Wings and everything else," Laine said. "I'm only like a third of the way through it. It's so difficult. There are so many stories, and you have to narrow it down to a few stories. You can't write it all."

FORMER WINGS MEMBERS TEAMING UP WITH BEATLES TRIBUTE BAND FOR ILLINOIS CONCERT

Denny Laine, Paul McCartney's right-hand man in his post-Beatles solo group Wings, is teaming up tonight (July 20th) with three of his former Wings bandmates -- horn players Howie Casey, Thaddeus Richard and Steve Howard -- to play alongside the Beatles tribute band American English at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois.

Laine first achieved fame as a founding member of the Moody Blues and met McCartney when the Moody's opened for the Beatles in 1964. He eventually co-founded Wings with McCartney and his wife Linda in the summer of 1971.

He told Illinois' Kane County Chronicle that at tonight's show it will be weird mixing Wings' music with Beatles' songs, explaining, "(American English) are such good musicians. It is a very eerie kind of atmosphere when they come out doing all of the Beatles' original hits." Casey, Richard and Howard were part of Wings' horn section from 1975 to 1980, and were featured on the group's Number One hits "Silly Love Songs" and "Coming Up," among many others.

Denny Laine left Wings in 1981 and is currently working on a solo album and his autobiography. He says: "I'm going through the beginning of it all, through childhood, the Moody Blues, Wings and everything else. It's so difficult. There are so many stories, and you have to narrow it down to a few stories. You can't write it all."

Back in 2001 when Paul McCartney released his Wingspan documentary chronicling the group's 10-year run, he told us that the group itself was a lesson in overcoming the impossible: "The great thing about this story is it's got a lot of human drama because it was a struggle trying to put it together after the Beatles. I mean, the Beatles career itself was a struggle, but then having reached those heights, to try and do it over and at the same time bring up a, a young family was quite an interesting human interest story. And that comes over."

Laine, who became McCartney's principal songwriting partner in the '70s, says that his and McCartney's collaboration was a natural progression: "I think he just wanted somebody who had similar ideas and someone who he knew a little bit. It was hard for him to start again after the Beatles."

He went on to say that he never thought of himself as a replacement for John Lennon: "(Paul and John) spent a lot of time together in a band, and they built their relationship to the point that they did. I don't think Paul was thinking of getting a writing partner (after the Beatles), it just kind of worked out that way."

Laine added that he never felt as though he and McCartney were partners in the group: "Wings was Paul's band, and I was his slightly younger brother."

Laine will be joining The Late Show With David Letterman host Paul Schaffer, Beatles tribute band the Fab Faux, the Zombies, and a reunited Peter & Gordon for a fundraiser-tribute concert in New York City for former Dave Clark Five lead singer Mike Smith. Smith suffers from spinal cord injuries after an accident at his home in Spain in 2003.

The show, which is being dubbed A Tribute To Mike Smith, takes place on August 2nd at B.B. King's Bar & Grill in the heart of Times Square.

DENNY SLAMMED FOR DECADE-LONG NEGLECT OF CHILDREN

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY's former WINGS bandmate DENNY LANE has been attacked by his ex-wife for failing to speak to their two children for ten years.

The MULL OF KINTYRE star's former spouse JO JO LAINE claims he has neglected his daughter HEIDI JO, 30, and son LAINE, 31, since 1995 and has never met his grandchildren.

She fumes, "We have a mutual friend who's kept Denny up to date, including the fact Heidi Jo has a four-year-old daughter JAYLIE JO and baby son, JESSIE JAY, yet Denny's never picked up the phone to say hello."

Heidi Jo adds, "He doesn't keep in contact. I haven't seen him for about ten years. He's never been much of a father."

Here is some more new just in from from Denny Laine. In this update his discusses Japanese tour dates in January with Alan Parsons Project, answering questions from fans in the Russian Federation, arrangements made with Paul to re-release 'BUDDY' on CD and talks of a bus tour of the US.

Hiya it's Denny here: My Japanese dates are set for Jan 9---16 with the 'Alan Parsons Project. It has changed from later in the month due to a prior date Alan had overlooked in his busy schedule. We have worked together before and because we go back to early 'Wings' sessions at EMI Abbey Rd we have a lot of fun playing music and talking about those days.

Also many of you in the Russian Federation have asked about a tour. Well if you watched the 'White Nights Festival' (and 500 million all over the eastern block do) for two years running I appeared at that in the beautiful city of St Petersburg and was amazed at the amount of fans with imported 'Wings' and Moody Blues albums. Also some of you had my solo stuff. On another occasion I was at the 'Garden Festival' in Riga Latvia and saw some very good local bands playing all western music. It was truly a special experience. So you see I am eager to get back there.

Paul (Macca) and I have arranged to re-release the Buddy Holly songs album (' BUDDY') on CD so look out for that.

No US dates confirmed yet until I have the new album under way. I'm really looking forward to my first ever bus tour of the US so I can see more of the country I've grown to love as "My Second Home' (song from the Rough 'N' Ready demos album) Thanks again for your emails.

Близится день рождения моего друга, и я ломаю голову над тем, что ему подарить. Он большой фанат Денни Лейна и я ничего не смог придумать, как подготовить ему оригинальный подарок – первый сингл Денни Лейна, где он в составе The Moody Blues исполняет композицию Go Now оформленный в «золотой» рамке.
А потом сел и подумал: йоли пали! А что мы вообще знаем о Лейне? Мой поиск на форуме ничего не дал, и я поэтому открыл эту тему.
Удивительно, что в Сети я нигде не нашел полную дискографию этого исполнителя, который на протяжении 10 лет был самым большим другом Маккартни.
Товарищ мой собрал около 20 его компакт-дисков и 3 виниловые пластинки, которые до сих пор не были изданы на CD.
Ну а что вообще известно из биографии этого исполнителя?
Уверен, что Simon сможет нас просветить по этой теме.

А что по поводу самой дискографии? Кто может здесь выставить наиболее полный список? Имеются записи периода еще The Moody Blues, но полная неразбериха в этих наименованиях.
Вот, к примеру, сборник лучших вещей группы. Издан в Испании. Ни год, ни откуда взяты композиции – ничего не известно…
