[B] 1960 
    The Beatles perform at the Kaiserkeller Club, Grosse Freiheit, 
    Hamburg, West Germany. 
 
[B] 1962 
    The Beatles perform at Floral Hall, Southport, playing two shows. 
 
[B] 1963 
    The Beatles, on a tour of Britain, perform for two "houses" at the 
    ABC Cinema in Manchester, Lancashire.  Before the show they give a 
    radio interview (for the BBC's "Voice of the North"), a television 
    interview (for Granada TV's "Scene at 6:30"), and an interview for 
    a short newsreel documentary being filmed by Pathe News.  The 
    Beatles permitted Pathe News to film two songs from their first 
    show of the evening ("She Loves You" and "Twist and Shout") for the 
    eight-minute documentary called "The Beatles Come to Town".  The 
    short film was distributed to theatres during the week of December 
    22.  The footage of the Beatles performing "She Loves You" and 
    "Twist and Shout" was later incorporated into a 70-minute movie 
    known as "Pop Gear" (it was released in the US under the title "Go 
    Go Mania"). 
 
[J] 1964 
    John Lennon records part of his appearance on the first show of the 
    new Dudley Moore/Peter Cook BBC television program "Not Only-But 
    Also".  On this day, Lennon, along with Moore and guest-star Norman 
    Rossington (who acted as The Beatles' manager "Norm" in their movie 
    "A Hard Day's Night"), do shooting at Wimbledon Common, London.  
    They film a surrealistic dream sequence to accompany Lennon's 
    reading of "Deaf Ted, Danoota, (and me)", one of the short works 
    from Lennon's book "In His Own Write".  Additional filming will be 
    done on November 29.  The show is broadcast on January 9, 1965. 
 
[P] 1974 
    Wings tapes a performance of "Junior's Farm" for the UK television 
    program "Top of the Pops".  Broadcast the following day. 
 
[G] 1976 
    UK release of George Harrison compilation LP "The Best of George 
    Harrison" (Parlophone).  Songs: "Something", "If I Needed Someone", 
    "Here Comes the Sun", "Taxman", "Think For Yourself", "For You 
    Blue", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "My Sweet Lord" , "Give Me 
    Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)", "You", "Bangla Desh", "Dark Horse", 
    "What Is Life". 
 
[G] 1976 
    Two George Harrison promotional films are broadcast on US 
    television, on the program "Saturday Night Live".  "Crackerbox 
    Palace" (directed by Eric Idle) and "This Song" (directed by 
    Harrison) are shown. 
 
[P] 1979 
    US release of Paul McCartney single "Wonderful 
    Christmastime/Rudolph the Red Nosed Reggae" (Columbia). 
 
[R] 1981 
    UK release of Ringo Starr LP "Stop and Smell the Roses" (RCA).  
    Songs: "Private Property", "Wrack My Brain", "Drumming Is My 
    Madness", "Attention", "Stop and Take the Time to Smell the Roses", 
    "Dead Giveaway", "You Belong to Me", "Sure to Fall", "Nice Way", 
    and "Back Off Boogaloo" (version 2).

    Reuters new service announces that The Beatles' compilation album 
    "1" has become the #1 UK album in its first week of release, on the 
    strength of first-week sales of 319,000.  "1" is the 15th Beatles 
    album to reach #1 in the UK and is the first #1 album for the group 
    since 1996's "Anthology 2".

    The Beatles' compilation album "1" is #1 in Sweden.
