3 Pin Socket - The Story
.......3 Pin Socket or 3PS formed after meeting in their first year of secondary school. Guy, Joby and Rob were unaware of each other's talent until they appeared individually at a Christmas school concert in 2006, they agreed to form a band the same night and soon began to write and play their own material.
They recorded their very first song "Rain is Falling" at Birmingham's Rich Bitch Studios in May 2007 before returning three months later after selling enough school concert tickets to pay for another session. 3PS then played their first gig by supporting local band Kick at a charity event held at Chasewater. Despite being the youngest act in the competition by far, the lads won Battle of the Bands at Cannock Chase Technical College in August 2007 after wowing judges Shaun Williamson (EastEnders and Extras actor) and Dan Morfitt (Kerrang! Radio DJ). Morfitt was so impressed he aired Lost in Misery on his show the following afternoon..........
In April 2008 they travelled to Three Mill Studios in East London to film their first-ever TV appearance, performing "Lost in Misery" on CBBC talent show The Slammer, 3PS won the show, as did the only other band McFly to play on the show and then went on to earn rave reviews playing to an audience of 2000 people at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre.
Further gig's included the outdoor rock concert at Shrewsbury School and a return to Chasewater for another show with Kick. "Lets Rock" made it onto the airwaves at Kerrang radio in July, Kerrang's Johnny Doom describing the boys as 'Arctic Monkeys meet Rock'!!
Concerned that 3 Pin Socket was perhaps not the best name for a band Joby, Rob and Guy changed the name to
Sunday Curfew. and recorded two further tracks"Whisky Tango Foxtrot" and "Today" under that name.
Joby left the band in 2009 to persue other musical projects. The lads soon found themselves a new vocalist, Ollie a very talented and charismatic singer who has previously worked with Rob on a number of musical projects and a new bassist Piers who later joined the band in 2010. Their arrival heralded a new chapter in the bands history and their musical abilities go from strength to strength. The new line up now calling themselves Shouts to the Past played live for the first time on the massive outdoor stage at the Shrewsbury School Rock Concert in the summer of 2010 the headline band for the evening putting on a showstopping set with the crowd chanting for more!!!!
In April 2010 Shouts to the past recorded two more tracks at Summer Bank Recording studies in Stoke on Trent The "Anthem" and "Look but don't listen"
The confusion with the name Shouts to the past and their supporters not remembering the name exactly, the boys changed the name again January 2011 to "Eyes like Oceana".
