George Harrison Honored Today with Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Presentation

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., April 14 -- As music legend George Harrison is celebrated today with a new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, Capitol/EMI announces Harrison's first ever career-spanning solo hits collection, Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison. To be released June 16, the new title will feature digitally remastered tracks in deluxe packaging, including an extensive booklet featuring previously unseen and rare photos. The collection will also be available for download from all major digital service providers.

Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison is the first release that will span his entire solo recording career, including the #1 Billboard Pop singles "My Sweet Lord," "Isn't It A Pity," "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)," and "Got My Mind Set On You." The new title will also feature live recordings of three Harrison-penned Beatles songs, "Something," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," and "Here Comes The Sun" from his 1971 all-star Concert For Bangladesh benefit at Madison Square Garden. The complete track list will soon be announced.

George Harrison is a twice-inducted member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a solo artist and as a member of The Beatles, and an 11-time Grammy Award winner for his recordings with The Beatles, Traveling Wilburys and as a solo artist.

Late George Harrison gets Hollywood star

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hundreds of fans and friends including Paul McCartney have turned out to see a posthumous star for George Harrison unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The late Beatle's star was unveiled Tuesday in front of the Capitol Records building as McCartney, one of only two surviving members of the band, looked on. McCartney also offered a shout-out to hundreds of raucous fans, thanking them for showing up.

Also present were Harrison's widow Olivia, his son Dhani, musicians Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne and actor Tom Hanks.

Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001 at age 58.

"Like every Star on the Walk of Fame, George also earned this honor.

"His first love was music, of course, but his talents spilled into many other areas of the arts, including movies, which he appeared in, produced and scored. His music legacy is documented perhaps better than his contribution to film, which included his first venture scoring the free-spirited soundtrack for 'Wonderwall' (1968); the 1974 film of the sociopolitical stage play 'Little Malcolm' starring John Hurt; the cult favorite 'Withnail & I' (1987) and the legendary 'Life of Brian.'

"HandMade Films enlisted a pretty amazing list of actors, writers and directors including Jodie Foster, Maggie Smith, Bob Hoskins, Sean Connery, Shelley Duvall, Ian Holm, John Turturro, Richard Loncraine, Jonathan Lynn, Dennis Potter, Ian La Frenais, Dick Clement, and, of course, the directors and friends Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam and Bruce Robinson. Being in the company of like-minded Englishmen was like being in another type of band and he loved the folly of their company much more than the woes of the business.

"George could make you cry with the beauty of his slide guitar playing. He could touch the soul with the steady vibrato and deft melodic flourishes. Одна жалость, скорее всего будет одинарным, а добротных песен отлично набралось бы на двойник.

Сборник сборнику рознь!!! Разве зборников Харисона не существует??? В таком случае подборка композиций должна быть на высоте!dvd к нему обязательно нужен

Два сборника существует. Но они старые и с поганеньким качеством звука. Так что давно пора.

Если это Кэпитол, то как они туда умудрились воткнуть Got My mind? Выкупили права у братьев Ворнеров?
Подозреваю, что это будет "глубокий апгрейд" сборника 76 года.

Опять 25... Я, конечно, понимаю - издание - дело коммерческое, но зачем на те же грабли прыгать с битловскими песнями, пусть и в соло-варианте? Лучше б Bangla Deash, Crackerbox Palace или Faster, к примеру, включили. Да много еще чего. Я понимаю, если бы двойник был, а так...
Все равно брать придется, но как в анекдоте - "осадок остался"

Не возьму. Полновесный двойник, по типу WKH был бы интересен, а смысла в приобретении подобного сборника не вижу вообще никакого

Единственное, что радует, это номер 18.

сборник как сборник. почти все хиты есть. ничего особо я от него и не ожидал. брать не буду. и так все альбомы есть. может, обложечку скачаю для коллекции :)))

По поводу хитов - не хватает Ding Dong, Dark Horse (топ-40), You (top 20), Bangleadesh (top 10) и заодно Wake Up My Love (top 60).
