Ringo Starr spreads peace and love on his 71st birthday in Hamburg
Ringo Starr appeared with wife Barbara Bach and the All-Starr Band and talked about his birthday today at the Hard Rock Cafe in the German city.
"At noon, my dream for everybody is that they'll go 'peace and love' at noon wherever you are," he told the crowd gathered.
He recalled his memories of playing in Hamburg during his career.
"I love Hamburg. I spent many a great moment here. I played here with three bands. It's a great place for me, a great experience."
He joked a little about the city's notorious Reeperbahn area, saying, "Sometimes very early in the morning, we'd come shopping down here."
He ended the short speech saying "peace and love, peace and love" as "Peace Dreams" from his album, "Y Not" was played. Ringo chimed in and sang a couple of bars from the song. He, Barbara and the band then tossed some presents to the crowd, which sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
