Paul McCartney dedicates Q Award to Beatles, Wings and Linda
Paul McCartney appeared in person to pick up the Q Awards honor Monday night in the UK for Q Classic Album for "Band on the Run." The 1973 album is about to be reissued by Concord Music.
In his remarks on accepting the award, McCartney told the crowd (see video at left) "Linda was getting slagged off for being in my band. What's she doing there? I was getting slagged off for letting her in the band. But finally, we got it together and it came together in this album. So, it was beautiful."
"The Beatles were a pretty hard act to follow, and we followed them," he added, according to Q magazine. "To all the younger bands, which is pretty much everyone, keep rockin'. I love ya. To Wings and The Beatles, thank you for getting me here.
"And, this one's for Linda!".
