Now here's an interesting one- not an album of Beatles covers (with the exception of the late great Link Wray's rendition of 'Please Please Me' and a nascent Harry Nilsson's stab at 'You Can't Do That') but an album of songs about the Beatles, written and recorded (mainly) at a time in 1960s America when the Fab Four had no control over who used their name and in what context. Thus we get "My Beatle Haircut" by the Twiliters, Sonny Curtis' "A Beatle I Want To Be" and the wondeful "I Dreamed I Was A Beatle" by Murray Kellum rubbing shoulders with the less savoury 'John, You Went Too Far This Time'by Rainbo (obviously a reference to the 'Bigger Than Jesus' incident) and the Hi-Riders worrying 'Stamp Out The Beatles', and the rather sad and touching 'Beatles Please Come Back' by Gigi Parker And The Lonelies. Oh, and did we mention the BonBons' rhetorical "What's Wrong With Ringo?" This is the first ever legitimate CD compilation of its kind, and features eye cathcing cover art from Mr Bam Caruso himself, Phil Smee and a huge booklet full of every piece of Beatlemania-related schpiel you could think of.
